William T. “Bill” Thacker, age 61, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at his home. Funeral services and burial will be at a later date in Dayton, TX. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. on Monday, January 11th at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Agent Orange Victim’s Fund, Fund for Reconciliation and Development, 355 W. 39th Street, New York, NY 10118.
Bill was born on May 8, 1948. He was in the Army Infantry, 173 Airborne Division and served in Vietnam. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 33 years. Bill was a member of the VFW Post 846. Bill enjoyed playing golf. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy (DelRio) Thacker. Survivors include his three sisters, Barbara Bass, Houston, TX, Judy Trevino, Channelview, TX and Mary Thacker, Houston, TX; his two brothers, Robert Thacker, Houston, TX and Robert Thacker, Dayton, TX; his long-time companion, Janice Lambert, of the home; and his cat, Baxter.
