William Lee Whitehouse, 78, Merriam, Kansas passed away June 4, 2015. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 AM, also in the chapel. Cremation will follow the service and his urn will be placed in a personalized glass front niche at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Indoor Courtyard of Memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital c/o Abdallah Shrine, 5300 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas 66202.
Bill was born November 9, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri to Brooking C. and Katherine (Johnson) Whitehouse. He was in both the Army and Air Force and went on to work for various railroads as a railroad police officer, retiring after 39 years from Union Pacific.
Bill was a Shriner at Abdallah Temple and was a member of Trail-70’s Small Bike Parade Unit.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Brooking (Bud); son, William Lee Whitehouse II; and grandson, Guy L. Woods, III.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Belynda and her husband Loren; son, Bruce; daughter-in-law Gail; seven grandchildren, Cliff, Amber, Maya, Holly, Guy, Wesley, and Aaron; and 11 great grandchildren.
