William H. Burton passed away peacefully in Lenexa, KS on March 28, 2017 at the age of 90.
Bill was born in Kansas City, MO on September 3, 1926, was in the class of 1943 at Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO, graduated from Kansas University with a BS in Chemistry, and then received his masters from UMKC. He knew as early as 8 years of age that he was destined to be a chemist.
He worked for many years on cancer research at Midwest Research Institute in KC, MO, and then at Farmland to finish out his career. He always had a quest for knowledge, and was also an accomplished carpenter and loved to build things.
Bill married Audrey Joan Schleuning on Oct. 16, 1954 and enjoyed 46 years of marriage until she passed away in 2001.
Bill is survived by his four loving children, Mark (Jan) Burton, Annette (Pete) Peterson, Patty (Randy) Norman, and Susan (Jon) Moore; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation/viewing will be held at 3:00 pm & the Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel (11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS).
