William Ernest Kuehn Received the Crown of Life on December 4, 2020 at 83 years. Visitation will be at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, KS on December 11, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The praise service will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on December 12, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mission, Kansas, with grave side service at Shawnee Mission Memorial Gardens, at K-7 and 75th Street in Shawnee, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Born February 11, 1937 to Elizabeth Dora nee Ruebke Kuehn and Walter Christopher Kuehn in Haven, Kansas. Baptized February 11, 1937 by his Father, Walter C. Kuehn, in Haven, Kansas. He attended grade school 1-3 in North Side Elementary School at Hutchinson, Kansas, attended 5th grade at St. Paul's Lutheran School, Coffeyville, Kansas, Grades 4 and 6-8 at Our Redeemer Lutheran School in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, Kansas in May of 1951. He attended 9th grade at Liberty Jr. High, Hutchinson, Kansas; graduated from Hutchinson Senior High School in May of 1955.
William enrolled at St. John's College in 1956 and completed the Transfer Program in Christian Education in 1959. Transferred to Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska in 1959 and graduated with a Bachelor in Christian Elementary Education in January of 1965.
On August 14, 1960 Bill was united in marriage to Doris Jean Schilly at Trinity Lutheran Church in Memphis, Tennessee. This union was blessed with four sons and one daughter. William II, Judith, Timothy, who preceded his father into Glory, John and Mark, twins.
Bill completed the Kansas District Lay Ministry Program on the 16th of May 2004 and was commissioned as a Deacon at Trinity Lutheran Church on May 31, 2004. His ministry was in the Care Ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mission, Kansas.
Bill was employed by St. John's College as Manager of Food Service from 1961 to 1967. He joined the Unified School District 465 in Winfield, Kansas, August 1, 1967 as Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds until July 31, 1970. On August 1, 1970 Bill joined the staff of Johnson County Community College as Manager of Housekeeping and Custodial Service, retiring from Johnson County Community College May 31, 2002.
Bill was a part time on call Executive Services employee at North Kansas City Hospital after retirement, and as a Lay Minister at Trinity Lutheran Church from 2004 until 2020.
