William Harold Rider, 100, passed away peacefully December 26, 2017, at Overland Park Regional Hospital. He was born September 15, 1917 in Rich Hill, Missouri to Irl C. and Trudy Mae Rider.
His wife, Melba, of 63 years of marriage, his son, David, one brother and 5 sisters all predeceased him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Janice Rider.
He served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corp. Following his discharge he attended Kansas City School of Engineering receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for J.F. Pritchard, Black & Veatch and retired from Farmland Industries in July of 1985. Following his retirement he worked for Bruce Smith Drug Store behind the pharmacy counter for over 20 years. He was a loyal member of Prairie Baptist Church, for 60 years. He served as an usher for over 50 years.
His memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 6, 2018, Prairie Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Blvd., Prairie Village, KS. Visitation will follow the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Music Department of Prairie Baptist Church.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
