William (“Bill”) Glenn Willis, 85, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 3, 2017. He was born on September 28, 1932 in Columbia, MO to Denver Colorado Willis and Bertha Mae Willis. He married Esta Mae Taylor on April 10, 1955, and together they had two children, Pamela Dawn Hinshaw (Mark) of Shawnee, KS and Renea Ann Barker (Mark) of Johnston, IA.
Bill was devoted to his earthly family and his faith. His faith continued to deepen and became his life’s foundation, as he walked through his life as a passionate follower of Christ, which included using his leadership strengths to serve in his church. He spent 24 years serving as a deacon and several years as a Sunday School Superintendent.
Bill served in the U.S. Army in 1953–1955 before he attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, MO. He retired after 30 years with Canteen Corporation, and he was also employed with Sears Corporation.
As God reached out His hand to take Bill home, he leaves a family with many treasures in their hearts. During his walk on earth, Bill modeled living his life for the Lord with devotion and love to his family who look forward to be reunited with him in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Bertha “Irene” Knigge, Beulah “Mae” Sapp, Bessie Himelright, Virginia “Grace” Deason, Dorothy Burge, Kathryn Johnson, Denver “Bud” Willis, Alvin Willis and Roy Willis. He is survived by his two children and two grandchildren, Ethan William Barker and Tessa Margaret Barker; one brother, James Willis and many nieces and nephews.
