Williams Evans, Jr.

William E. Evans, Jr., MD, age 87, of Leawood, passed away on December 28, 2011. He was born on Oct. 9, 1924, in KCMO, the son of Lucille B. (Willard) and William E. Evans, Sr. Dr. Bill, as he was affectionately known, got his medical degree from the University of Kansas and practiced medicine until his retirement. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1954 and was a Purple Heart recipient for injuries suffered in combat. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen Anita. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial will be held in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans.
