Wilma was born on March 10, 1915, in Gridley, Kansas, to Henry and Lydia Ott Bahr. She graduated from Gridley High School and attended the Kansas City University. Wilma married Dr. Joseph A. Farney January 30, 1938, at Madison, Kansas. She was a most gracious lady who put her God and her family first. She was known as a perfect housekeeper and excellent cook. Her Grandchildren lovingly nicknamed her “Mim” and then everyone else followed and she was known as “Mim” to the rest of her family and friends. Mim enjoyed driving on cross-country trips and treated her family to come along and share her passion for travel and beautiful scenery. The mountains delighted her and one of her favorite vacation spots was Jackson Lake Lodge near the Teton Mountains.
While her husband served his country overseas as a Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II, Wilma patiently cared for her children and appreciated the help of both the Bahr and the Farney extended families during her husband’s long absence.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, her infant son Joseph Farney, her parents, and her brothers Arnold and George Bahr.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Patton, RN; and sons, Nelson (Mary Ellen) Farney, DDS and Kent (Charlotte) Farney, MD. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Marcus Patton, Fred Patton, Matthew Farney, and Jacob Farney; step-grandchild, Mark Litteer; four great-grandchildren, Samantha, Kimberly, Mackenzie and Joseph Patton; and two step-great-grandchildren, Sarah and Sawyer Litteer.
