W.W. (Bill) Schnittker, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. W.W. (Bill) was born April 5, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas to Mike and Bess Schnittker.
W.W. (Bill) grew up on a working farm, located near St. Leo, Kansas and graduated from Cunningham High School in 1957. After high school he graduated from Emporia State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas and joined the United States Army in 1961 and respectfully served for two years. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 30 years, retiring in 1999.
W.W. (Bill) married JoAnn Johnson in 1979. They were happily married for 34 years. W.W. (Bill) was a member of The American Legion and the Railroaders' Coffee Club. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, attending many of their home games and he enjoyed watching Kansas University basketball.
W.W. (Bill) was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his spouse, JoAnn Schnittker of the home; daughter, Kristen Schnittker-Eismont and granddaughter, Marissa Eismont of Kansas City, Missouri.; two step-sons, Greg (Tammy) Johnson of Greenville, South Carolina; Jerry Johnson of Osage City, Kansas; two brothers, Len (Lola) Schnittker of Brawley, California.; Allan (Louise) Schnittker of Pratt, Kansas; sister, Linda Schnittker of Wichita, Kansas; several nieces, a nephew and numerous relatives.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, located at 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas on Monday, December 9, 2013. The family will greet friends and relatives beginning at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests memorial donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Kentucky 41076.
