Julia Anna Kettner, 92, died and went to be with her Savior on June 17, 2016 at The Piper Assisted Living center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born September 18, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri to Reinhardt and Julia (Schulteis) Greb.
She married Edward George Kettner, M.D. on November 4, 1944. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1980.
Julia was defined by faith, family, and friends. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1952. She was active in the Research Hospital Auxiliary, the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and many other church activities.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and she will be greatly missed by all of us.
She is survived by two sons, Edward (Minda) of Lenexa and Ronald (Linda) of Shawnee; one daughter, Nancy Vierthaler (Carl) of Dodge City; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a step great-grandson.
Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, June 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park.
