Eudora

Robert E. Gossage of Eudora, Kansas, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. Born on May 26, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, Robert was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Gloria Gossage. Robert is survived by his wife Beverly; their four children Bobbie, Clint and wife Chee-Chee, Victor and wife Hailey, and Adam and wife Brianna; and four grandchildren Winton, Myer, Ayven, and Everly. He is also survived by his siblings Russell Gossage, Randy Gossage, Rick Gossage, and Carole Flynn as well as many nieces and nephews.

Robert grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. Robert graduated from Ruskin High School in 1968, and married his high school sweetheart Beverly in 1969. They met at church and began dating when they were 14 years old. This November, they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

For 45 years, Robert was the customer service manager at W+D Machinery in Overland Park, Kansas. Robert was a doting father and grandfather. He loved spending time with family, whether it was taking in a Chiefs, Royals, or KU game, catching a new Marvel movie, playing board games together, cooking up a big pot of his famous chili, or just giving out the best hugs. It’s hard to imagine anyone loving their grandchildren more than Robert did. He’d talk to them in a Donald Duck voice that always made them giggle, and which earned him the nickname “Grandpa Donald Duck.”

Robert loved the Lord, and even though he was an introvert by nature, he enjoyed being a greeter at Nexus Church in Lenexa, Kansas, where his son Victor is the worship pastor. He also liked playing golf and taking cruises with his family. This fall, he helped his wife Beverly successfully campaign for the Kansas State Senate, representing District 9. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, at City Center Church in Lenexa, Kansas at 1 p.m., with visitation at 12 p.m. The service will also be livestreamed here. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
